From September 1 to October 4, we celebrate the Season of Creation 2026 under the theme “Living Water.”
May this season help us renew our relationship with God, with one another and with all Creation, and inspire us to walk together in caring for our common home.
Season of Creation 2026: Living Water
From September 1 to October 4, Christians around the world come together to celebrate the Season of Creation, an ecumenical time dedicated to prayer, reflection, and action for the care of our common home.
In 2026, the theme “Living Water,” inspired by Ezekiel 47:1-12, invites us to contemplate the water flowing from the temple of God, bringing life wherever it goes, healing the waters and making the land flourish. This image reminds us that all creation is deeply interconnected and that we, too, are called to take an active part in its care and renewal.
For the Quebec Foreign Mission Society (SME), this season is also an invitation to recognize that care for creation is an integral part of our mission. In the different peoples and places where we are present, we seek to be transformed by the Living Water of the Gospel and to walk alongside communities in building relationships that are more just, fraternal, and respectful of life.
How can we build peace when our world continues to be marked by conflict, division, and the wounds inflicted on Creation?

From September 1 to October 4, the Christian family around the world unites in prayer and action to care for our common home.
This year’s theme is “Peace with Creation”, inspired by Isaiah 32:14-18, reminding us that true peace will flourish when justice is restored.
Together, let us celebrate God the Creator, care for all that He has made, and commit to building a future of hope, justice, and harmony with the Earth.

Prophet Amos cries out: “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5: 24) and so we are called to join the river of justice and peace, to take up climate and ecological justice, and to speak out with and for communities most impacted by climate injustice and the loss of biodiversity.
As the people of God, we must work together on behalf of all Creation, as part of that mighty river of peace and justice.

EVERYTHING IS INTERCONNECTED IN THIS COMMON HOME.

On September 13, 2023, I was privileged to participate in the Diocese of Manaus which was a home, for an extraordinary meeting that brought together four Diocesan Bishops, together with the local clergy, members of consecrated life and lay people, all committed to reflecting on ongoing formation and the importance of ecology in their pastoral lives.
Under the motto "Everything is interconnected in this common home. Everything is interconnected as if we were one", the event promoted a journey of deep introspection and learning.
