Celebrating Our Shared Journey in a changing world

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2025 is inspired by John 11:17-27. The theme, “Do you believe this?” (v. 26), comes from Jesus’ conversation with Martha in Bethany after the death of Lazarus. It invites us to reflect on our faith and the hope it brings.

This special week is observed from 18-25 January and holds greater meaning this year. It coincides with the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, which was held in 325 CE. This was a historic gathering of Christian leaders to define shared beliefs. The Nicene Creed, a lasting outcome of the council, remains central to the Christian faith. It unites believers across traditions, it emphasizes a shared commitment to Christ. This anniversary is a reminder to revisit the creed and appreciate its continued importance in our lives.

During the week, Christians are called to pray and reflect on their common faith. It’s an opportunity to focus on what brings believers together and to deepen spiritual connections. You can use these tools to make a difference right where you are, especially with help of  tech savvy young people. Younger generations bring hope to the future of faith. They’re finding new ways to live out Christ’s teachings—fighting for justice, caring for the planet, and building broad communities, leveraging the use of technology. 

The call is clear: love, serve, and share the hope of Christ. Each time you work alongside others, you take a step closer to unity. Together, we can shape a future where faith and mission thrive.
